Your Voice And Tone Of It Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Your Voice And Tone Of It

How can feelings to associate them,
With emotions kept.
Be suppressed not to express.
Or when addressed to reveal.
Are subjected to disrespect.

How can a truth openly to speak it,
Be considered inappropriate.
Especially when it is asked to hear,
From those wanting it heard.
But with less honesty to be near.

Many prefer to receive responses,
Done with hesitation beaten around the bush.
And scented with lavender.
Or another aroma one chooses to pick.
Yet...
Will get up and exit when truth is unexpected!

"Did you not ask me to be direct?
No matter how truthful and honest I can get."

-Yeah, but...
Your voice and tone of it.
Even I would have chosen one less serious! -

"I should have kept my mouth closed.
And let the truth speak for itself! "

-Say whatever you want.
I'm no fool.
And neither are you a ventriloquist! -
