You wouldn't remember
The day it all came back.
From way, way back.
The day it shot up,
Like lava.
But since it was so long ago
And now it's all better,
I thought I'd tell you.
I came home from lunch.
You were still in your pajamas
Sitting in that gray chair
And I said, 'hi'. Then
The blue sky dropped
From your eyes
And an angry, red sun rose,
Winter birds sat tight in the bare branches,
Brittle leaves stopped scraping the walk,
Dogs swallowed their barks,
Clouds called back the wafting snow,
The houses were empty
And the malls full,
The toddler was asleep in her crib,
Sissy was with the snowman
And God wasn't in the mix.
Then, BOOM!
