I See Your Smile Poem by Stephen Carey

I See Your Smile

For weeks you are out of my sight,
I cry each and every last night.
To this rope I'm trying to hold tight,
But I'm slipping and nothing is right.

Each time I close my eyes,
I see your wonderful smile.
There are no more good byes,
And I walk another mile.

I think of you every morning,
And dream of you every night.
You've not died, but I'm still mourning.
You're not here, and I'm not alright.

Each time I close my eyes,
I see your wonderful smile.
There are no more good byes,
And I walk another mile.

I see you, I really do!
I see all of your faces,
Your eyes, your smile, your little hairdo,
In all your moods, in all those places.

Each time I close my eyes,
I see your wonderful smile.
There are no more good byes,
And I walk another mile.

Now I say you are perfect, divine.
If we can be friends and nothing more,
That's all I want and that is fine,
But, for me, the next time I walk through that door,
Please be there.

And now as I close my eyes,
I see your overwhelming smile.
I finally see past all the lies.
Ten times, I'll walk another mile.
