01 - Mood Poem by George Hunter

01 - Mood

Rating: 5.0

A useful word is ‘mood'
Like a state of mind.
Benny Goodman had a hit tune
"In The Mood"
Julie London made a record
"I'm In The Mood For Love"
When your wife or lover
Is ‘in the mood' it's great
When she's not ‘in the mood'
She says "I've got a headache, "
Or, "Is that all you ever think about? "
That puts me in a different mood.
Use ‘mood' in a sentence.
The cows all mood
Or is it mooed?
If mood is pronounced ‘mood'
But good is ‘good'
And foot is ‘foot'
But hoof can be either ‘hoof ‘or ‘hoof.'
Anyway, the cows mooed because they were happy
And happy cows come from California.
California is a state of mind
And a state of mind is a mood
Which means that we're back
To the point where we were
In the beginning.
In the beginning God created
The heavens and the earth.
That sounds rather biblical
Don't get me started on that!
The Bible is an old book.
I like to read books.
How come ‘read' can be pronounced
Either as ‘reed' or ‘red'?
Such is the English language.
Puts me in a mood.
I ponder the mystery of life.
Why are we here?
Why is there stuff rather than nothing
When you can't take it with you?
Are black holes real
Or just something Hawking
Likes to write about?
Like dark matter
Which no one has ever seen.
Must be too dark.
So, is there life after death?
No. The meaning of death is
The ending of life.
Well then, is there life after marriage?
Debatable, to say the least.
Puts me in the mood for Chinese food
But ‘they' say that in a short time
I'll be hungry again. What is time?
I know what it is until you ask me.
All I know is that I'm running out of it.
Do you believe in fate?
Like when your number comes up
You're gone. Dust to dust.
Maybe when we're born
We're allotted a certain number
And when they're used up
Poof!
That reminds me of the song
"Poof, The Magic Dragon"
Or was it Puff?
Anyway, it was some kind of a druggie tune
Someone said.
"Religion is the opium of the masses."
Don't get me started on that.
Or it will put me in a mood.
When I was a kid, my Dad
Gave me a dime when I mood the lawn.
A kid is a baby goat.
Ewe know that a kid's mom is a you.
Or is it virsavisea.
Anyway, this is not a rhyming versa
It is not even blank versa.
It's just plain ridiculous.
Blanks are cartridges
That have no bullets
Useless, except for starting races.
Don't play the race card
Puts me in a bad mood
When in a mood
I need some food
Hey Dude, this is gude.
"Hey Jude" is a Beatles tune
Do you realize that there are
Many thousands of species of beetles
And only one of human beans.
Something to think about.
If you're in the mood.
Use the word rowed in a sentence.
I rowed my bicycle to town.
I rode my boat in the river.
Such rambling.
"Rambling Man"
Sounds like a tune by
Old Hank Williams.
Who is now pushing up the daises
As I will be soon
Dust to dust
Reminds me that I must do some housework
And sweep and dust.

But I'm not in the mood!
