(140) Oil Spill Poem by Melvina Germain

(140) Oil Spill

Rating: 5.0

Her wing was broken,
Her body covered in oil.
The product of a spill in the lake.
She fought hard trying to survive
but it was just too late.
The poor wee duckling closed her eyes.
There she laid
There she died

We are guilty of polluting the sea, the soil and atmosphere. We are killers and a day may come when we shall ourselves, too.

Melvina, a very sad and touching tale, which is all too common I am afraid. Being an animal lover this little poem touched the fabric of my soul. It always distresses me to read about God's creature falling victim to man's greed. A powerful write from someone who does it best. Top marks and thanks for sharing it my friend. David
