A Cricket (Children's Poem)

You, strange creature cricket green
When I first saw you I froze with fear,
But then I heard your 'creak-creak' voice
One summer day, and I rejoiced.

Now every time your 'creak-creak' sing,
So joyful are the months of spring;
Dandelions sways in harmony
And to me is the sweetest melody!

    It's wonderful how quickly the child goes from fear to joy and then adopts the cricket as a familiar companion. And she joins the dandelions dancing to the cricket's song. I agree with Rachel Sunprincess this is a perfect summer poem. I could even feel the warm sunshine on me and see the bright green colors everywhwere. For a suspended moment it was summer... Then winter returned. (Report) Reply
