A Rich Man's Soul Poem by Randy McClave

A Rich Man's Soul

Forget your lust for a rich man's gold,
As its eyed there upon the table
But, maybe first you should read its label,
For which it has been bought and sold.

How many people was it used to buy,
How many debts was it used to pay off
And how many times was it used to boast and scoff,
And the times it was used to buy a lie.

Will it help the people that you said it would,
When in your pockets you have those precious gold coins
Will you still feel the desire and need from your loins,
As you know that you spiritually should.

A rich man's gold has built mansions,
And for it many have searched and died and fought
For it many have stole, and traded and bought,
Upon their need and greed it became their expansions.

If your lust for a rich man's gold is your goal,
And believing it makes you joyous and contempt
Remember, before that gold coin is ever spent,
All that really need is your soul.
