A Rich Man's Gold Poem by Randy McClave

A Rich Man's Gold

Forget your lust for a rich man's gold
For which it has been bought and sold,
As its been eyed over there upon the table
But, maybe first you should read its label.
Beware of the yellow brick road.

How many people was it used to buy
And the times that it was used to buy a lie,
How many debts was it used to pay off
And how many times was it used to boast and scoff.
And how many people for it did die.

Will it help the people that you said it would
As you know that you spiritually should,
When in your pockets you have those precious gold coins
Will you still feel the desire and need from your loins.
What would be your desires if now you could.

A rich man's gold has built many mansions
And upon it he has built many glorious expansions,
And for it many have searched and died and fought
For it many have stole, and traded and bought.
But, not one was built with heavenly passions.

If your lust for a rich man's gold is your goal
If you believe only that will make you happy and whole,
And believing it makes you joyous and contempt
Remember, before that gold coin is ever spent.
All that really need is your soul.
