A Waste Of Time? Poem by Sandra Feldman

Do not words open gates? Why have the wicked blossomed as the vegetation of the field? If poetry is not to effect the heart, then why pen another word? One who writes poetry just for acknowledgement is not a poet, we attach emotions to poetry and when we do that we cross over to the place where words inspire, can motivate the heart to action. I remember the first poetic words I ever read that had an effect on me...Listen, your brothers blood is crying out to me from the ground...and the blood of innocence victims continues to do so today and there is no turning back, the worlds morals are trashed as old fashioned, it's not just here in this nation, it's everywhere, taking guns away is not the solution, and I'm in no way promoting guns, I don't own one and have no desire to ever touch one, people will find other ways to kill and rape and display violence in the most crude ways, poetry has limits, look at the state of affairs in the family arrangement, it has been rearranged into something that would be unrecognizable to our forefathers, and this indeed comes with a heavy price, yes there have always been violence, murder and all the other evils but never on a such scale as today, but my friend, if our words, our poems has an effect on just one person for the good, it is not a waste of time.

Oh Theodora, of gifted feelings and ample heart. I feel your pain which is mine too and the pain of a Nation, a good Nation, unhappy too, to see Innocence slaughtered and nothing we could do. That is why we must find a way, to prevent this ever happening again! just like we are able to many times stop terrorism, there must be a way to stop horrors like the Las Vegas ultra crime. Weapons must not fall into the hands of maniacs, it is imperative for All to work for this, for we are all in terrible danger and I believe it is the writers duty to make it known! And condemn All Fake News. My heart goes out to the victims and families. No words can console or express their pain.

Pets are capable of changing hearts and minds. They have done it; they are doing it; they will do it. May not be 100%. Imagine a world sans poets. What could have been the situation? Thanks for the thought provoking poem.

Your words speak volumes of absolute truth, Sandra. My heart is breaking right now for our nation...which has become a slaughtering house so to speak; One wonders just what goes on in an evil, evil mind! Know that i would love to see Stephen Paddock's brain looked over completely as i know that the minds of psychopath's are different but believe this man was out to kill as many as he could.My heart is hurting for all of those families that lost someone...and to those of the wounded. Have stayed on the strip every time i have been to Las Vegas...and yes, i have stayed at Mandalay Bay....know the size of those windows....i have walked the strip too many times to count with friends and family and never feared....today i fear. Today, i pray. We need a miracle presence more than ever before! Thank you for writing this, dear Sandra!
