Album Of New Philosophies Poem by Leah Ayliffe

Album Of New Philosophies

Rating: 4.0

In the air, the taste, the feel
I know troubles far away.
It seems as though the blues have faded to yesterday's domain.
The sunshine sings in lullabies, a spotlight on summer skies
A duet with the land and wind, to keep the tender ones alive.
It's that freedom tune, you know that familiar one you used to chase.
The liberation of the deep, the dark, the easy breath of having everything lost.
When there's nothing to lose you hear the melody clear -
Darling, it's home at the bottom when you're lying on the dirt, looking up and creating your own world,
This is real, this is real to me.
This is the best of life, the sound of the future, swaying to the oceans movement
Moving to the moon that's pulling,
This is real, this is being free
Admire nostalgia, but forget how it used to be
Forget, I know who I am today.
I know I am meant for what's to come.
I am meant to be the worlds darling, loyal to the discovery of beauty, pain, and happiness -
exploring and experiencing the purest truths gleaming within sea and land.
I won't run away, rather I'll dance into fate, the river of serendipity.
Isn't it curious how I always sing this song about surrender? In all different phases of life. I keep coming back to you. This absolute and forgiving surrender.
This time feels new,
It's an album of new philosophies and ideas I'm working on.
Let go of the past, cut the strings that drown the heart.
Love, love, love what you can do, and what you've got.
Do not forget to
Dream on
In all the letting go and carrying on.
The ancient trouble that haunted from deaths past, they're long gone with the blues of before.
The blues before. Hot coffee and the radio know of their allure.
Goodnight wooden floors that have been home to the many hours in thought of past and future fears.
Goodnight sweet nostalgia, I forgive you entirely with one last blown kiss in the wind to the past's ear.
I've always known how to be the enough I want to be.
I don't need to hold on to such things anymore.

This is a threshold poem. You have apparently already crossed the threshold and are telling your readers about the dynamics of your crossing and the new life that has happened. First of all let me say I'm happy for you, you are in a good place with a balanced sense of what you gained in the past and what you will gain in the present. Twice you bid farewell to nostalgia but I suspect this was a more difficult decision than the passages suggest, but that's part of your decision: to move forward from the past with only memories connecting you to it, not messy emotional ties (or chains) . I found your last three lines especially moving, because the Woman you have become on the other side of the threshold is detaching herself herself from the Woman she was - without bitterness or regret. You say THREE TIMES This Is Real, and your image of dancing into fate is wonderful. I sense you are still making sense of your New Being but everything inside you and around you displays the Joy of Self-Discovery. You poems were often a wrestling with Experience, this one is an Affirmation of Experience.
