All Is Not Lost Poem by Nestor David Armas

All Is Not Lost

Rating: 5.0

Morning started,
To work I've parted,
I arrive all aflutter,
I'm craving peanut butter,
I stroll on through to my desk,
It looks like home; a fine burlesque,
The morning saunters by me,
Pretty soon it will be time for tea,
But there is something amiss,
Something not completing my life of bliss,
And then it dawned on me what it was,
The very definition of my working life's cause,
The object that made my days a bearable sore,
Was not there anymore,
The anticipation of you walking in through,
With your smile awaiting for me to greet you,
Had been torn from me,
Like my eyes gouged out so I would not see,
And for a moment my heart beat stutters,
My mind tries to gasp yet it sputters,
But then you come over,
I thought I must have had a four leaf clover,
You utter a hello, the beginning of the morn,
I realize then that I won't be forlorn,
I smile once again all is not lost,
I would preserve this moment at any cost...
