Another Kind Of Beauty Poem by Michelle Claus

Another Kind Of Beauty

"Beauty surrounds us
but usually we need to be walking
in a garden to know it." - Rumi

When you, heartbroken, surrendered tears
upon your cheek
because a friend omitted your name
from her birthday-party list

I marveled at the beauty of your soul
so tender and affected
by humanity's slight
and deep disappointment

I, too, become petal
wind-tossed
far away from any garden

And this is how we are delivered
to ourselves
