Be Not Narrow In Mind And Deed Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Be Not Narrow In Mind And Deed

Love your mother-tongue
with all your heart;
but to hate other tongues
don't be a fart.

Love your nation
and work hard to make it strong.
But don't feel joy
when your country mounts
invasions on the weak neighbours.

Love your religion
and worship your God with faith.
But don't hurl insults
on other cults, calling their gods fraud.
Why you take needless pains
to convert others to your fold?

Sing the glory of your race
but don't fling stones
on the groups of weaker folks.
Offer comments on other races
with a bit of nous and respect.

With these ideas in your mind,
you migrate to any continent.
People there will welcome you
with mercy and succour help to the poor.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Thoughts of one's mother-tongue, religion, nation and race should not make one narrow-minded.

Why you take needless pains to convert others to your fold? well said, but the people liked to migrate for green pasture mostly forgot their roots...It had happened in Indonesia, Fiji and many other countries. the recent migration is quite different..
