Beauty Poem by Jared Weppelman

Beauty

Is it the crystal blue vase?
Solving an hour long murder case?
Plastic dolls at their doll house rec?
Cheeseburgers coated in shellac?

Maybe it's a friendly dance.
Flawless form of a fighting stance.
TV showing a purple dinosaur.
Scratch that. What an eyesore.

It could be a high IQ,
or the adventures of Nancy Drew.
Perhaps the dissecting of a frog.
The rolling in of billowing fog.

Or the half smile of the Mona Lisa.
The pepperoni on a deep dish pizza.
Angels on the Sistine Chapel
or the sweetness of a ripe golden apple

How about a pool of clear water?
The pristine height of the Eiffel Tower.
Golden rays breaking the horizon
as the new day is brought by the sun.

Possibly it's well made graphics
or seeing an actress in multiple flicks.
The lights celebrating Independence,
holding the gaze in a trance.

But what if it's holding their gaze?
Passion like fire that cuts through the haze?
Simplicity meets serene beauty.
A moment stolen from the world's cruelty.

Maybe it's being at their core.
Without hesitation waging war.
Letting the outside burn in obscurity.
seeing the soul that's really beauty.
