' ' ' ' Being Browned Off! (For Lyn) Poem by Dónall Dempsey

' ' ' ' Being Browned Off! (For Lyn)

Rating: 2.7

Soaking up the sun
is...hard work.

But determinedly
I slog away at it.

It's a sweaty job but
I like to do it.

My three year old
bored to the bone

browned off with
this tanning of her hide

pronounces:

'It fedens me up...I'm finished
tryin' to put the sun into my skin! '

'I'm goin' in! '

And in she goes.

Wakes up her dolly
who has been sleep

in the shade.

My sweat trickles
with laughter.

Ah, yes! Tilly the truth angel! You can always count on the youngsters to tell the truth! Pulling no punches, she says, 'It fedens me up! ...I'm going in! ' How I love this dear, dear Tilly!
