Blasphemy Poem by Barry Van Allen

Blasphemy

You only get one try at this,
but, every church says two,
that's how they get and keep the converts,
- - - by promising another try,
which, of course they can't deliver,
... while I tell you the truth!

You only get one try at this,
do with it what you will,
most doctrines are for just one reason,
to keep the folks in line... until...

By promising another try,
at another better life,
they keep your mind from wandering,
and they keep your mind from wondering,
... what if they're not right?

What if all those costumes,
are really just a way,
to have you spend your hard earned money,
to support them every day?

What if all those rituals,
are just another way,
to make you think that someone knows,
... and to steal all your pay?

I believe, that they believe it,
it's not a scam, in the true sense,
BUT, if you think about what's going on,
... it's a conspiracy of silence.

No one dares to say it,
for fear of being ostracized,
so, the well - washed brains,
take greater pains,
to prove that they are right.

If you know any history,
you should know they're mostly not,
they prey upon the ignorant,
for everything they've gotten.

The truth is unacceptable,
this can't be all there is! ,
The facts are undeniable,
you only get one try at this!

After many years of study,
this is what I've found :
blind belief brings some relief,
to the days of those that need it,
the weakest need to most believe,
and many question constantly,
religion is a crutch for most,
and science ... for the strong,
the lessons taught, keep most in - line,
and yet somehow ... I hope I'm wrong!

This is a great poem Barry, free thoughts, free speech...and great ending. Hugs, Diane

Oddly...when I was about 10 years old, and my father in an attempt to introduce me to religion, asked me what I believed in, I responded...'I believe that people need something to believe in...I believe that people are born...and people die...' I could tell he thought that he had lost me...right then and there! Great poem...it's good to be able to think freely...isn't it Barry? : -) Hugs, Dee
