Buried Deposits Poem by Mark Heathcote

Buried Deposits

There's something I've never met in her eyes.
Buried deposits I would analyse
diamonds on an opalescent night
look almost dark but in the light - shine bright.

Twinkling silent, they whisper something new,
'whispers do you love me as I do you.'
Cavernous, expansive as the heavens
please, oh please forgive my wild transgressions.

There's something I've never seen before
and, it's left me wanting more and more.
… On a cage floor, a canary panting-
love succumb, isn't this night-enchanting?
