Call From Mother Earth Poem by Roxane Spar

Call From Mother Earth

As far as you can look in the galaxy
Have you yet found a planet like me?
You know I am a rare jewel, bright and alive
Unlike other bodies you see, desolated and dry

5 billion years have made me wise and strong
Come my children, listen carefully to my song
I am your mother and I am tolerant
For I know you are still young and ignorant
But whether you see it or not, your danger is present
For your sake and mine, I cannot anymore stay silent!

Each time you’ll poison me more or bleed me white
I will teach you that it cannot be right
I will demonstrate to you the butterfly effect
Gradually, until you’ve learned what to expect
Every act has a consequence
Find the right balance, it’s your last chance

Care for me, love me
We’ll enjoy our future
Neglect me, ruin me
We’ll all suffer…
