And next Christmas, dear Santa Claus,
I want you to bring a bird because
If you put it in my stocking,
It will be better than nothing.
You see, all the biscuits and sweets
You’ve brought and put I’ve given to Pete.
Remember, he likes sweets, I always
Give them to him or to Laurence.
Last year you brought me a book.
I gave it to Pete. But he didn’t look
At the book. “My new rucksack
Is better”, he said and put it back.
Don’t bring me cakes and sweets
Unless you want again Pete to eat
Them. No books! I want to play with
My presents. Understand this!
