Colorblind Poem by Anjell Bryan

Colorblind

Rating: 4.0

History being made though I question the motives
Not of him but of the media and his followers’ perspectives
‘Black’, ‘African-American’, ‘Colored’ in the White House
Why is color an issue though? Is that what it’s about?
It is about the strength and clarity this man displays
How diligent and grounded he is in his ways
The fact that intelligence and practicality takes precedence
And not just that a BLACK man has become the PRESIDENT
He should be embraced for what he has to offer
Though important, not only because of his color
A smart man, a good husband and doting father
An example of humility coming before honor
The man who inspires millions with his words
Potent and timely; needing to be heard
Upright in character and stirs up emotions
The aspiration of many epitomized by one man
Brilliance and charity forming perfect union
A man who instills in everyone a sense that they belong
A canvas that represents every artist and all their dreams
Great hope and eminent change in one man is seen
Jubilation and unity as never before realized
When all the world finds solace in this man’s eyes
Do not limit him to his skin color that he did not choose
Value the man for his mind and all he is able to do
The fulfillment of Martin Luther King’s vision; at least in part
The voice that resounds optimism as he on this journey embarks
A visionary that is unparalleled in his time
I hope BARACK OBAMA makes the world colorblind.
