Constant Patience Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Constant Patience

A willingness to comprehend.
With intended listening to understand.
Takes constant patience.
And tolerance to decide,
That time has arrived...
To pay undivided attention given.
Prioritized done to sacrifice,
Interrupting anyone...
Showing to make known,
They have a need to be heard.
Until they may or may not,
Ask for advice.

Many are too quick,
To provide unsolicited comments.
Without a word heard,
Clearly to hear...
From another what is being said.
Choosing the wrong time,
Found to find to express...
What is on 'their' minds.

And others are reluctant,
To be honest and direct.
Whenever the situation presents,
Them to express empathy.
Felt with this done to do.
With nothing less to expect it.

Constant patience,
Takes being concerned.
And an understanding.
With this to be understood.
That nothing said,
From one's heart to express it.
Will be condoned.
Immediately to make known,
Nothing but respect...
Is there to receive.
Given.
Without it to guess.
Or leave to disbelieve it.

This to do,
Needs not to be proven.
Or suspect the doing done.
