Contra Diction Poem by Marquita Lawson

Contra Diction

You say- you don't- understand me
I say- there's times- you don't even try
You turn- your thoughts- to another station
and I- can't help but wonder why

I feel- so warm- when you hold me tight
so why- is it- I feel so cold at night?

Contra-diction: that's what it seems
could this- be the- romance my dreams?

What have we in common? what keeps us going strong?
What is this feeling- on the road we're traveling on?
Do we take for granted- the sweetest tune of love
Keeping-straight-the-path-we-follow with God’s guidance from above

You like- it quiet-I like to talk
I like- excitement- you’d rather take long walks
You do- your thing- and I do mine-
When we're- together- everything seems fine

You are- my love- and you’ll always be
Through thick- and thin- You’ll be there for me

I hold- you up- when you are down
In times- of need- I’ll always be around

That’s what we have in common, it keeps us going strong
It’s that peaceful feeling-on the road we’re traveling on
Let’s never take for granted, the sweetest tune of love
Keeping-straight-the-path-we-follow with God’s guidance from above
