Daddy Poem by Genevieve Surrender

Daddy

Rating: 4.1

We used to watch TV together
ESPN

He would be lying on the floor
on his side
with his head propped up
by an elbow on the carpet
because it was more comfortable
then our old couch

I would lie in front of him
A little girl
happy in his arms

and now
i've forgotten
how I used to wait
for him to come home
from work
and lie in front of the TV

I hope I'll see you soon
Daddy
I hope the guards
let me in
after a year
of waiting outside the cell.
