Dazzling Darkness Poem by Patti Masterman

Dazzling Darkness

Rating: 5.0

In God, some say, there is a deep but dazzling darkness-
That hides his face, like an ocean hides a seed;
And none can say if it's full or if it's empty,
For all our knowing's like wind through hollow reeds.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
(First line taken from the last stanza of Henry Vaughan's poem,
‘The Night': "There is in God (some say)
A deep, but dazzling darkness; as men here
Say it is late and dusky, because they
See not all clear;
O for that night! where I in him
Might live invisible and dim."

Love the depth of truth within the last line, purity.

Truly said...God is the bazooka for perestroika.....we do only play darbouka and make boomshakalaka of poetrys empty vessel-cheers if you actually see i am doing the same another way making it more devoid as time detests in an hour glass of emptiness and fullness

Awesome verse, Patti...I think Henry V. would have been both impressed and pleased as to where you took his opening line....~FjR~
