Death Row Poem by Nicole Rawls

Death Row

Sitting behind these
Bars, trying to
Hide my face. They
Locked me
Up this dark
And dreary place.

They think I’m crazy.
They say I’m psycho.
The put me
Next in death row.

Why do they
Want to kill me?
I don’t
Deserve to die!
I didn’t do
Anything wrong,
Why can’t
Stay alive?

What do
They want from me?
What did
I do?
Hello, can anyone
Hear me?
Don’t forget
I’m a person and
I love too!

No don’t take me!
I don’t need
To die!
Why don’t you
Care about
My life.

I plead,
I beg
But they don’t listen
Soon enough
I’ll be dead.
The tears
Don’t stop
Tem from the needles
In my arm.
Now I’m gone.
I can’t do any harm.
