Degraded Flower. Poem by Alicia Bridget Smith

Degraded Flower.

Rating: 5.0

Have you ever watched a flower come into bloom.
Just marvelled at the power of something so fair.
Glows with it's beauty, almost without a care.
But everyone knows that even something so sweet,
Has troubles and demons it struggles to keep,
Locked so tight away so it can't even show,
The pain that it's caused with each and every blow.

Have you ever watched as the leaves start to fall.
And they carpet the ground and carve out the way.
For more and more fall as the sun closes the day.
But only to fall do they make space for new,
Leaves in their place and they outshine a few,
So as some leaves die the others can live,
To cover from rain and give all they can give.
When one door closes another one opens.
When one leaf falls another one grows.
And the flowers continue to brighten the scene,
For everything mentioned is all that I mean.
