Slurred Words Of A Wasted Night. Poem by Alicia Bridget Smith

Slurred Words Of A Wasted Night.

It seems we can’t truly see the things that stand right before our eyes,
For we think that they will forever stay, and not change with time,
But the truth is that with time, nothing stays the same,
People mature and memories fade.
What seems like months, is really years,
What you thought was comfort, soon becomes fears.
There is nothing worse than seeing your time fly by,
You thought you heard hello, but it was really goodbye,
It was one night, that for once seemed so long,
To still be there now, I can’t say it feels wrong.
Because although since then many nights have gone by,
It’s still the one on which I rely,
To remind me of something one day I could be,
Even though with time it is getting harder to see.
I still hold onto that night, and keep it so true,
Because still when I close my eyes, all I see is you.
