DESIRE Poem by Héctor Rojas Herazo

DESIRE

Desire is vegetable
it asks for roads
air
it wants to tremble in a fruit
to suspend itself
it asks for a fertilizable body
it asks for a lip
it asks to eat and to be eaten
it wants
to entangle itself and wail with hard branches.
It wails because of being
it wants to tremble
to feel itself
to touch itself from inside out
to be conscious of breathing among things.
It wants the wind and the wing
it wants the day
it wants the foliage of its dark strength
shining under the light leaf by leaf.
Because of that it is vegetable:
because of its destiny of darkness and sky
because it breaks and it emerges
because it goes up
because death suffers with its flight.
