Different Poem by Becky Schulz

Different

We're too different,
You and I.
Chocolate and vanilla,
Hello and goodbye.

Too different, say I,
Because my soul is open to you.
Ignore me to your heart's content
But don't wonder why I cry.

Though we come from different places
I think it's fair to say
I never thought you'd make me feel
Like I was in your way.

We're too different,
And I can see you've closed the door,
So I won't even come knockin
Since you'd hurt my feelings more.

Hatred I can feel, and loathing I can bear,
And indeed you have wrapped yourself
In a cold shroud of indifference.
I know I wouldn’t dare.

We're too different,
Because as I sit and write this now
I know that any thoughts of me
Will never crease your brow.

We're too different
Because I am forsaken...
Ever since I spilled my heart
I knew I was mistaken.
