Distant Poem by Kelly Chapman

Distant

You say I'm distant
Like I don't care
But maybe I have emotions
I just don't know how to share.
I used to solve all my issues with a knife
But I'm learning to take the joy with the strife.
Don't get me wrong, love, you've been great,
I appreciate everything you think I can't.
Somethings that you think I've forgotten;
I haven't.
And I know that you can't understand my habit
It must be hard to love someone
Who can't even love herself
So promise me I'll have you,
When I have nothing else left.
In the end, all that matters: Family, friends, and love
Peace, not war, and the Lord above.
Always hold my hands and remind me those words
As we go together and face the world.
