Do You Love Me As Much As I Love You? (Terzanelle) Poem by Leslie Alexis

Do You Love Me As Much As I Love You? (Terzanelle)

After I kiss you, will you kiss me too?
Are your lips and heart one in what they say?
Do you love me as much as I love you?

Frankly, I tried, but could not walk away;
When I look at the sky, I see your eyes.
My love, each new day feels like the first day.

But are your word just phony lullabies
That are sung to keep your fool in deep sleep?
Without sweet kisses, words of love are lies!

So please tell the truth, and though I may weep,
After tears deplete, I will find a life,
And maybe some woman that I could keep.

More than wealth, I want you to be my wife,
I may have said it but I don't know if
After tears deplete, I would find a life.

I might spend time at the foot of life's cliff.
I may have said it but I don't know if…
After I kiss you… will you kiss me too?
Do you love me as much as I love you?
