Drink, Mr. Darwin? Poem by gershon hepner

Drink, Mr. Darwin?

For those who’re fit and seek survival
pursuing principals of Darwin,
a drink, or two, three, four or five ’ll
help those who’re standing round the bar win.

Writing about pororoca, the Brazilian sport of surfing on gigantic waves on the Amazon, Sueila Pedrozo writes: “Poor people in this country risk their lives all the time; either being on the top of the trains defying electric poles, trees, anything or surfing the pororoca. Not to mention the drugs which take their lives before 25; that's the rule. It's more or less like this: you have to prove you are stronger than the reality around you, a basic Darwin's principle.”
