Eduadi Viraka

Siku hiyo Ijumaa, kituoni nasubiri.
Fikra zimenizonga, mara lasimama gari.
Mibio nakurupusha, nisikose usafiri.
Eduadi wa viraka, jirani yangu kitini.

Eduadi wa matope, asogeapo nakwepa.
Michanga yaziba kope, anuka vundo la kwapa.
Nipangapo nimuepe, heshi tambo ajitapa.
Eduadi simjui, anilipia nauli.

Kondakta auliza, nikate ngapi jamani?
Eduadi ajibiza, kwani umwonaye nyani!
Zogoni kaniingiza, fujo kote safarini.
Eduadi mkorofi, mkazi wa Kigamboni.

Ni naye twaongozana, tunavuka ufuoni.
Edu kumbe Mwashi bwana! Mmiliki hutodhani.
Yu na pesa na amana, jumba kubwa la thamani.
Eduadi huyu kijana, pesa huezi amini.
Mie sintosema bana, nambie ukweli mana!
Eduadi wa viraka, au ulifanya haraka!

poet Percy Bysshe Shelley

We are as clouds that veil the midnight moon;
How restlessly they speed, and gleam, and quiver,
Streaking the darkness radiantly!--yet soon
