Farewell Address To A Martyr By A Kashmiri Widow Poem by Akhtar Jawad

Farewell Address To A Martyr By A Kashmiri Widow

Rating: 5.0

So You Are Leaving,
leaving me alone in a forest of beasts!
When they were four footed,
and haven't spared the front legs,
to hold the gun,
they were not so much wild.
Yes they had claws and nails,
and knife like teeth,
but they never used it
except when their instinct of hunger
forced them to kill a weaker animal.
A lion after killing a deer never raped his widow.
I know you have sacrificed your life
for independence of your countrymen,
I know you'll get a palace in the heavens
where there are sexy fairies.
But do you know the beasts with guns
will break the doors of a wooden house
and your widow will be gang raped!

Very very poignant portrayal of a hapless woman in an accursed situation. Nerve-racking indeed.

Full of pathos and desperation of a life living in a terror-infested place.
