First Love Letter Poem by Abdul Wahab

First Love Letter

Rating: 4.5

I find a piece of paper in dilapidated box
In the corner of a room of our ancestral house
It is yellow and has developed several creases
And wrinkles from its folds and perhaps for its
Old age it lost its lustre and appears too pale.
I open it with care and thought it might be
An important document of my grandfather
Telling us secrets about his hidden treasure
Sand in my sugar, I quickly change my hope
After reading the salutation and the first line
I go back fondly and forced to remember
Her name, her face and our meeting place
Where she used to give me her love letters
It was my first and so I kept it with much care
As one keeps his or her valuable treasure.;
Now I keep it in my pocket to read it alone
When I am on bank of a river and in solitude
To recall her tender love in my cuddle memories
