Fish Poem by Susie Gharib

Fish

Fish

Remember! Fish is not a dish,
It is a creature with a wish.
Theirs is a world of fertility,
Appetites observing no civility.

There are hunters like Angler Fish,
Possessing spears with which they fish.
Protruding teeth are common cases,
But Viper Fish require no braces.
Damsel Fish would run for shelters,
Like virgins stalked by assaulters.
They change colours to match the floor,
Evade enemies who've come to gore.
God provided them with lanterns
Whose rings of light resemble Saturn's.
With lidless eyes they snatch a nap,
As Wrasse with sand themselves enwrap.

Grant me Lord some magic fins,
And make dear fish my next of kin;
A little house in some deep ocean,
Unassailed by scientific commotion.
