Fly Trap Poem by Riley Maxwell Hefron

Fly Trap

Like the cool breeze of a stallion,
wet feet bring into the station,
helpless and lost, lonely as lice
she holds the price, naughty and nice,
like the flowing of a frozen river,
clean and extrort,
innocent as a fly, caught for export,
left to cry, my oh my,
as she bares a touch, weak and robust

Deep in suppression, held for nothing,
You lowered your guard, start your bluffing,
control your man, be a queen,
rely on justice, choose your scene,
spread your wings and lead your way,
she is a child, she must obey!

As your conscience draws your breath,
as you lie here in regret,
beautiful, don’t you forget,
she’s a traitor, reconnect,
innocent as you are,
as you hear the brass guitar,
think with what you will,
she’ll betray you, don’t hold still

Under the fall of humiliation, dirty with lust,
take the comfort of family, that girl is unjust,
you are strong, stand to the fight,
take control, bathe into the night,
though the curtain will fall, you cannot escape,
you have won, victory for none.

(This poem was written under the inspiration of 'The Crucible' a year 12 novel, and is based on the character 'Elizabeth Proctor')
