Flying With Falcons Poem by Sheena Blackhall

Flying With Falcons

Rating: 4.8

Have you ever boarded a flight with the dread
Of the passenger next to you snoring his head
Off, or maybe a toddler who's teething & raging
And dribbling, and drooling and loudly rampaging?

If you're flying by Middle East Airlines, a falcon
Which has its own passport, and isn't a phantom
May perch on its owner's arm, proud as a prince
It's tethered and charming so no need to wince

Perhaps it's off colour, and bound for the vets
Abu Dhabi's famed Hospital for falcon pets
Jordanian Airlines allows two per seat
And I've not any notion of what the birds eat
During flight…if they're peckish and have masticated
Your ear, I'd imagine you'd be compensated
