Four Liners 11-20 Poem by Indira Renganathan

Four Liners 11-20

Rating: 5.0

11 Apparition

Wind was still..so was the mango tree..no light
Dark new moon night.. hit me a fear spree.. a fright
Crawling a shadow darker than the dark night
Phantom..? 'Fool thinketh...bell clinketh'..fearful plight

Note: 'As the fool thinketh so the bell clinketh' is a proverb

12 The River And The Wind

Tickled by the rippling cool breeze
The river runs sinuous with joyful ease
But crazy the wind grows to beat
The river spews her spitting in angry fleet

13 The Shore The Hill The Ocean

A long sandy shore...a lengthy green hill upon
A deep blue ocean..an eye-catching scene in all
Beauty's beautiful.. yet what's there warning
The blue depth might freak out on the shore and the hill

14 Birds On The Tree

Including the daily crows and mynahs
They are many lighting the green tree bright
As they jjust begin their concerto..' oh yes, yes
Today Pipal is wedding Neem in great delight..! ! '

15 A Poem On The Banyan Tree

Massive and majestic a kinglike queen
With long swinging tresses in airy breeze
Blooming her youth at last births bright red fruits
Oh, a living poem for ages in repeats

16 Snow And Sunshine

Falling on the snow sunshine said 'you've chilled me out'
And the snow replied ' you've warmed me up'. As sun moved away
Snow turned sad hard hit in heart in sorrowful dark
But to appease himself comes the sun the next day

17 Story Of Boulders

Frozen water expands and hits the rocks to crack
Permafrost underneath when melts moves the rocks to break
Cobbles and pebbles and boulders are formed this way
Samples of historical beauty they stand high way

18 Desert

A mark of wounded space in earth's geology
A failed land of sand in earth's agrology
A phase of gruesome strife in earth's travailing life
Where brave people yet live facing hardship rife

19 Coconut Tree

Her usage is as high as her tall height
Root to top.. used highly as her tall height
With her kempt in unkempt style of green fronds
Backing her brown trunk holds her up to the sky fronts

20 Roses

Roses have thorns to prevent predators
But man is wise to use tools to pluck them
Does God hear their cry when cut and crushed by man
Has He else way to guard them from predators

Roses have thorns to prevent predators but man is wise to use tools to pluck them. Does God hear their cry? Loved this insightful expression.

True that we cannot set English poems to Sanskrit meters. But with their structural rhythm and exquisite rhyme-scheme, they qualify as Muktakams.
