Future Of A Country Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Future Of A Country

What will be the future of a country
if it harvests fanatics and sycopants?
What the parties assure during the polls
in their manifestos are not implemented.
The people give their mandate
for the promises made to the people.
The brutal majority in the parliament
makes the ruling party to enact new laws
to carry out the plans in hidden agenda.
The voice of the opposition is ignored
or threatened with income tax raids.
For the two percent of a community,
they give ten percent of reservation
for professional courses and employment.

The voice of the learned folks is suffocated
or they are silenced by religious fanatics
or the hooligans and paid killers.
The gubernatorial posts like governors
and judges are manned with people trained in
religious militant wings.
The national parties should be said, 'Tata'
to translated myths, lies and fancy stories.
In a multilingual and multicultural country
education should be in the State list
and all tests for education and jobs
must be held in their mother tongues.
Decimatenational parties and form a group
Of winners in states to hold the sceptre
under a Federal Republic of the nation.
