Gooseberry Poem by Dan Brown

Gooseberry

Rating: 2.3

It was real nice of you to invite me over.
It was nice to see you.
Your girlfriend’s nice, I like her.
She obviously makes you happy.
I made you promise you wouldn’t ignore me.
“Bring vodka! ” you said.
“Its ok, I’ll be drinking too! ” you said.
You didn’t.
You two cuddled,
and snuggled,
and snogged.
You both reminded me of
what I don’t have,
what I’ve lost,
and what I miss so much.
I don’t begrudge you happiness.
Just couldn’t you have been happy
out of my sight?
You went back on your word.
You ignored me.
You hurt me.
You left me alone to drink and be merry.
You left me alone to play gooseberry.
