Gorgeous Cliches Poem by Leah Ayliffe

Gorgeous Cliches

Wearing my white sundress with its floral design
Running through an ocean of yellow flowers
Beside a boy and his dog
Something more than this lost little girl could ever dream of.
Cliches can be gorgeous when they're real
Like spring time and new beginnings
A love song in sunshine
Skinny dipping under the moonlight.
We are all youths in a wasteland
Dancing free with no thoughts of growing up
Instead let's just wander around the earth
Barefoot
Over all the cruel souls, sad minds
Swinging towards happiness in a beautiful land
Something like paradise.
And the policeman taking shots with me calls me Diana
Like a princess
Before I make a run for it.
I get confused when having a choice
Between heaven and hell
I like the darkness of night, a fiery cheap thrill
And yet when the sun beams in high noon
I feel the beauty of truth, I feel like a dreamy angel.
The truth comes whispering through the breeze
To remind me
I am neither a queen of the moon or a sunshine darling of day.
My soul has been painted with silver and gold, dark blue and pale yellow.
In my brown eyes it's easy to fall into a never ending story
With no comforting resolution.
A girl with a million colours to paint her world
A different face, a different style any day of the year.
You may never meet the same smile twice.
I walk dreamily in my field of flowers free to sing
I'm so lucky
Knowing I'll always be prisoner to the internal war of finding a way of being.
It'll never end, and my God,
I hope I never find who I am.
