Has Time Changed? Poem by Mohabeer Beeharry

Has Time Changed?

How naively we look at things around us
Time has changed we say

How could time change anyway?
The same stream ever flowing in the same direction
Neither word nor music offered
Neither gale nor storm scared,
Time stops not.

You have changed,
I have changed
The vistas, the hills and the mountains have changed
The seas and the oceans have changed.

But time is still the same, implacable
Passing one
Leaving another, it neitherdares
Nor love nor hate.

Time and me are not friends.
We stay close
We rub shoulders
But it cares not for my tears or heart breaks
My joys and my hails of victory.

One day when I am not here
Time will still be running.
The flowers will bloom and droop,
The winter will still be cold
And the summer hot.

The one who started this race of time
Will only stop it when this universe folds
And folds, it never will.
