There is a funeral today for the remains of a friend
Cremated remains which will be placed in an urn
And sat atop a podium for viewing and prayer
Many people will cry violently for his passing
Some will mourn quietly within themselves
But all will remember the man
For while he is but ashes now
Soon to be cast out upon the open Sea
He was however, if only for a brief time
A true American hero to me....
(2007)
A beautiful and honourable tribute to a fallen friend and hero of war
I am sorry for your loss and know that your friend, though no longer here, will forever be remembered in your heart.........hugs, marci

Ted, this touched me deeply. I haven't been through any of the experiences through which you have been and your friends/loved ones have been (though to me more importantly you): and I cannot begin to relate. I can only respect. For some or no reason, this brings to my mind, in the skew-wiff state that it is, a line from a Shania Twain song, 'I'd rather die, than live on my knees, saying please'.... and perhaps the opposite of another S Twain song (yeh ok I had it playing in the car' - 'that don't impress me much...' - so. the opposite of the latter. t x
