He's The American Dream Poem by Leah Ayliffe

He's The American Dream

Rating: 3.5

I know I'm one of many
of those you have lined up
like pretty domino's ready to fall.
Well, you and I are in a game we made
and honey, I have so much playing it.
It's like nothing I've ever done before -
Oh what a thrill it is to be desired
and always left craving for more.
An American man who can make me a patriot of another nation,
screaming out the American Dream from my hungry red lips.
Yeah, you make me happy, make my toes curl.
And yeah, you're not 'the one', it's all good fun,
but damn you're the best I've held between my thighs.
'Cause it's less than love but more than lust
where I can dance all night by your side until the sun comes up,
and talk about things I can't even talk about -
lost dreams, what scares me,
Who I even am at all..
Chilling, watching television
or playing like kids laughing through a theme park.
I think you like it too.
You don't seem to mind that I'm a little crazy,
messed in the head, a chaos of confusion inside.
I can't tell you why, and hell that's fine.
Life is easy when I'm with you,
no rules, no lies, just one desire to have a good time.
I smile just thinking about it.
'Cause I'm not yours,
and you're not mine,
but whatever this thing is, I'm gonna let it shine:
my pretty American Dream.
