Her Promise Poem by Kyrsten Gaddis

Her Promise

Quietly she whispers
to a sky so dark,
Going through the day
and all that took the pain away.
Tears cascade onto the ground,
Siletly screaming.
Looking to the moon,
she makes a promise,
'days wil be brighter,
there will be laughter,
i will remember everything,
the good and bad.
i will stay positive,
through lifes hard chores
and i will keep this promise,
i promise.'

She wakes up,
no longer going through the motions.
But the days wear on,
each time forgetting her promise.

Laying beneat the stars,
their fingers intertwined,
she remembers her promise,
from years ago,
and the tears begin to flow
