Hoe Poem by Judy Hill

H

How could you lay next to someone
you don’t know?
How could you make love to someone
you don’t trust?
How could you commit yourself to
someone that creeps?
How could you make promises you
Are not going to keep?

O

Once you told me you would always
need me,
Once you said trust me hurt I shall
never see,
Once you held me and said it would
be ok,
Once you said you would never go
away.

E

Every time we kissed I would wonder
if there was someone else,
Every time we made love I would wonder
if you were sleeping around,
Every time you held my hand I wondered
if you would bring me pain,
Every time you told me you love me
do you tell anymore else the same?

Notice the letters in this poem is H-O-E. If you look in the mirror that’s what you will see. This poem is dedicated to the men I had in my life.

I like this Judy. I have to ask can a poet find inspiration in bitterness as your dedication suggests. Well...Yes! I guess they can.
