Hong Kong Loses A Symbol Of Freedom Poem by Unnikrishnan Sivasankara Menon

Hong Kong Loses A Symbol Of Freedom

Rating: 5.0

Tiananmen is a blot on humanity
A symbol of man's drive for freedom
For which thousands of children
Sacrificed their precious little lives.

A stain of blood, a wound never healed,
Marked by sculptor Jens Galschiot
In his sculpture, The Pillar of Shame,
A Symbol Of Freedom crushed, blood shed.

The autocratic governments fear the dead
More than those continue to live a life dead
In the dead of night, they remove The Pillar,
But yes, The Shame of Tiananmen lives on.

Like Jesus Christ
Free Speech remains crucified
And like Desdemona, smothered.
Christmas Eve!

Restriction on any freedom is crime and it is considered as style in today's world.

Today, everybody who usurps power, by whatever means, swears by democracy, but practices autocracy.
