I Am Poem by Claire Sanders

I Am

I am but a miniscule speck of dust in a wondrous universe,

With clouds made of diamonds and rivers of ice, stones of pearl,

I drift with gravitational pull from one solar spot to another,

My life is but a flash in your telescope and then it's all but gone.

I am but a particle of energy that passes through living beings

I have no nuclei, I am atomic, not visible to your naked eye,

I travel in this dimension unaware of diatnce covered or time,

My life is but a flicker, a blink and then I'm all but gone.

I am but a fossil, a memory, a ghost formulated into the facet of a rock,

With skeletal features, a leaf or a shell, a shadow of time past,

An iota, a tracer of humankind left for you to uncover and mock,

My life is all but an imprint, a lifetime gone so fast...
