I Apologize Poem by Kelly Batson

I Apologize

Rating: 4.5

Now seeing what couldn't be touched

Hearing voices, speaking words

Neither can become undone

No more promises to be lied

Or hearts to be betrayed

Too little too late and you hit your knees

I apologize for not being stronger

No amends to be made or pieces to pick up

Choke on pride and breath in this moment

One day this memory will fade for us both

I had been walking in my sleep too long

Blinded by the illusions you project over me

Turned statuette from your true face

Yeah I never even knew who you were

I self-medicated myself through this pain

And I held onto to you as long as I could

I apologize for not being stronger

No amends to be made or pieces to pick up

Choke on pride and breath in this moment

One day this memory will fade from me

This was my mistake

Crumbled and rests beneath my feet

Does it even matter now that I'm gone

You never learned a god damned thing

Close your eyes and smile

Nothing is all bad

Keep the part of me I love

Let go and forget that other side

I apologize for not being stronger

No amends to be made or pieces to pick up

Choke on pride and breath in this moment

One day this memory will fade
It will fade for us both
